The PCC is pleased this year to honor Marty Brewer, Superintendent of the Pioneer School District from 2011 to 2018, as our first honoree.  Marty is in his 30th year in public education.  He is passionate for public education, specifically equity.  He believes it’s his duty to level the playing field for all students, giving them the same opportunities that he has been given in his life.  Marty is a life-long learner and believes the day he stops learning and striving for excellence will be the last day of his career.  He enjoys serving and working with the community.  Marty’s core values are:  dedication, integrity, collaboration, and vision.

The Grant School was originally built in 1914 and established to serve local elementary children until 1942 when it closed.  The PCC was created soon after and is dedicated to the preservation of this historic Mason County landmark. The Grant School is one of only eight officially designated one room school houses in the State of Washington.

One room schoolhouses are symbolic with our country's earnest commitment to education. These humble places of learning continue to serve in a variety of ways. Some are now historic museums, private residences, living history programs and a few are still in operation.  The Grant School serves the broader community as well as being rented for classes, family gatherings and other celebrations.

With funds from the 2017 auction, the PCC installed an efficient ductless heating system, ventilated and insulated the school.  All of these improvements will cut down on energy costs.  The kitchen appliances will be replaced as they are almost unusable.  All of these improvements make the school more resourceful and usable year-round for the PCC club members and to the community.

The PCC is a nonprofit 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Our Federal Tax ID is 91-1275293 and a portion of your donation may be tax deductible.

The Auction committee and the members of the PCC thank you in advance for your commitment to maintaining this historic building in our community.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

It is time to get back in shape with Yoga before the holidays arrive. If you have a friend or neighbor who you think would be interested in Flow Yoga at Grant School, please give them the information below. The attendance on Thursdays has been light and I want to continue offering Yoga at Grant School because of its convenient location for students.
